This morning I had a female Blue-winged Teal flying over the vegetation at the rear of Schoolhouse Pond. As posted earlier, there was a male present yesterday morning. I'll be interested to see how long these birds remain, as typically they leave the pond by mid to late-April. I've already seen six Wood Duck chicks at the pond this spring. The vegetation is very thick at the rear of the pond, making it difficult to see what is back there. However, it usually starts thinning out significantly by July, making it a little easier to spot birds that may be hiding in the spatterdock. Nothing else too unusual, but the American Redstart, Prothonotary Warbler, Northern Parula, Indigo Bunting, and 1st year Orchard Oriole were singing continuously.
