I also visited parts of NW Carroll County yesterday looking for field
birds. I was just east of where Jim was.
I found four adult Red-headed Woodpeckers in three locations. One was on
Sharrett Road west of the easternmost stream crossing, a pair were on
Baumgardner Road S just south of Bullfrog Road, and one was on Teeter Road
where it crosses Piney Creek south of Ruggles Road.
Single singing male Bobolinks were on Keysville Road opposite Hagerstown
Lane and on Walnut Grove Road west of Frock Road.
One Vesper Sparrow was heard on Baptist Road between Harney and Starners
Dam. Another was heard on Sharrett Road.
Grasshopper Sparrows and Meadowlarks were in most of these locations
also.

Earlier in the day I birded at Hashawha. Depressingly only one Wood
Thrush was heard and no Veeries. Still no Yellow-billed Cuckoos anywhere.
Seven warblers: Ovenbird 3, Louisiana Waterthrush 1 (heard only),
Blue-winged Warbler 1 (heard only), Yellowthroat 2, Redstart 2 (1 immature
male seen, 1 other heard only, both singing), Yellow Warbler 4, and Chat 1
(heard only).
