I posted a couple of the better Alder Flycatcher images here:

I thought they were somewhat overshadowed by that Common Yellowthroat that
was constantly getting in the way :-). It was tough to compete with those
COYE images.

At the end of that gallery is a sub-gallery called "Flycatcher Study":

Per the comments in that gallery, I included one shot from each time the
bird may have perched. There may be some duplication due to either the bird
perching on one branch for longer than I would think it did, or it returned
to the same exact perch (either is very possible according to my images).
This is truly a creature of habit, only perching on a couple of different
high branches on the multi-flora hedge.

If you click the "Exif" link below an image it will display the camera data,
including the "Date Taken" which includes the exact time. That may give the
images some additional context.

I actively shot the bird from about 9:30am - 11:30am on Saturday, and 8:00am
to 10:00am on Sunday. During those 4 hours I shot about 256 images of the
bird. Based on what I see in those images there is no doubt in my mind that
one and only one bird perched for any length of time on that hedge. Another
Flycatcher did make a few cameo appearances but they were brief except maybe
one time when the bird was down deep in the hedge (behind me; I did see
that).

I posted that "study" because some of the birders did not hear it vocalize
and therefore there was some uncertainty as to a positive Alder ID. I did
not shoot the bird on every perch, but probably most perches until the light
got bad as the sun rose behind the hedge. All I can say here is that it is
statistically unlikely that another Flycatcher was perched high in the hedge
while I was there. Hope this helps.
