Hello birders?

I don't know if I've actually rejoined anything. But when I desperately ran
and tried to resubscribe, I got the "new subscriber" confirmations as when
I first joined years ago. So I figure this is worth a shot.

Please tell me that two days of backseat driving did not spiral out of
control and just end 12 continuous years of the most nationally renowned
regional birding listservs (really, amazingly universally renowned in terms
of management, the supported community, and the body of expertise it made
available)?

This is truly one of the big "you don't know what you have 'til it's gone"
resources, ran by a true manager. The enforced rules and knowledge that you
were a member of a respected circle kept this community's postings friendly
and simultaneously prudent for an amazingly high majority of the time. We
were a respected (if some judged too small) voice because we tried to
follow the carefully established rules. MDOSPREY members who were also on
other state or regional listservs should have been able to easily compare
the lower level of organization, clarity, and discourse that went on in
those circles and understood that (like so many things in this world)
MDOSPREY could never be run 100% as they would call "perfect," but it was
damn close enough to be appreciated as the vital resource it was.

If you're still able to receive these, Norm, we've never met in person but
I can understand that a politely written "two-cents" email can still be
"two-cents" too many for people not being cognizant of the bigger picture:
that a good manager can only stand on the pride in something great he's
built for so long, before even he tires of the constant slings and arrows.

Thank you for steering such a great project for so long.
