And the worst thing is that this bird probably flew through MD to get there. I wonder if there's anything diagnostic between pix of this bird and the recent DE record for comparison?


Keep in mind that this location is only about 11 miles south of the MD/VA state line.

Hi Everyone,

Well it seems a little lame to post about an extralimital bird in my first post to MDBirding, but the bird isn't too far from the MD line and is certainly in chase range for MD birders. �Also, finding it was REALLY exciting.

The godwit was on and near the extensive area of exposed sand directly opposite the Toms Cove Visitors Center at Chincoteague NWR. �Carol and I watched it this afternoon from about 1:30-3:00 pm; it was still there when we left.

I have birded a fair amount in DE and other states this summer, but I really am mostly going to bird in MD the rest of the year! �:)
