Subject: [MDBirding] Starlings at Jug Bay! Oh, and a Whimbrel

Today, August 11th is the only date in August I haven't seen a Starling in 7 years of "bucket sitting" behind my house, overlooking Jug Bay. Imagine my dismay when all the rain came in just about the time I have been seeing them flying to roost each evening. Fortunately, there was a break about 7:15 pm so I rushed down there, got the scope set up and about 7:27 spotted a largeish shorebird flyng south down Jug Bay, just above treeline. Cranked it up to 60X and got a great look at a WHIMBREL. This is my first ever for Jug Bay. Oh, and at 7:32 a small flock of Starlings went by. Whew! Then at 7:41 I heard a loud sound and looked to the south and could actually see the next wave of rain coming at me. Got out just in time to get only a little soaked.
