Subject: [MDBirding] Pelagic records

Hi Folks:

For pelagic trips, such as the one this weekend, where lots of people
saw lots of birds and took lots of photos, the task of sorting out
and organizing the resulting photos into single or multiple bird
records can be problematic (and very time consuming). I need your
help and I assume eBird shares these same issues as the records committee.

I hope that someone who was on-board has or will come up with a
system to identify the various Black-capped Petrels, Arctic Terns,
and Band-rumped Petrels seen by either lat/lon or by time hacks, or
some system. Hopefully, one or more of the leaders, who should have
the best perspective, can figure out a method to deal with this.

Lots of photos of species that were seen multiple times, just dumped
onto web pages without more detailed location or time data, doesn't
help in associating photos into specific records.

(Is the feeling that all of the Band-rumpeds should be treated as one
record, or multiple records?)

Sorry I missed it ...

Thanks.

Phil
