Actually, I left out some details because I didn't feel they were relevant. I did call 911 because I was worried they might try to prevent me from leaving by blocking the road--but that didn't happen, so I didn't request that the police come to the location. In any event, as a lawyer I'm certainly aware of the legal options--and the limitations of those options. But I agree taking legal action and/or summoning the police to the location is an option people may want to consider in some circumstances.
