Great sighting, but I'm really jealous!!!� from what I understand it's been a loooooong time since anyone has seen one that appeared to be a resident bird.� Most likely it was(is) migrating.

Subject: [MDBirding] Barn Owl in D.C.
On Friday night, I was in my backyard in the Columbia Heights neighborhood of Washington, DC.� At 11:30 p.m., a large bird flew low over my yard and landed on a gazebo-type structure in my next-door neighbor's yard.� My first thought was that it must be a hawk, but when I took a few steps to get a better look, the bird turned its head and a barn owl was looking right at me.� It stayed for about 15 seconds before flying off to the west.�
Not sure if barn owls reside in the city or if this bird was just migrating through.
