Subject: [MDBirding] Re: Sabine's - day 5

Thanks to Nancy, Jeff and the gentleman from DC (sorry, I'm miserable with names!) who spotted the bird around 11:15 from the dam. I arrived at the pipeline earlier that morning at 8:20 and had not seen the Sabine's until Nancy received a call around 11:20 saying that the bird was being seen from the dam. I had scoped from the boat launch earlier when I arrived but there was quite a bit of fog on the water.

Needless to say, we were all having great views of the gull from the dam beginning around 11:30 or so until it flew out of view towards towards Nichols Cove by 12:00. The Sabine's was feeding on the water for the majority of the time, yet it did offer some great in flight views of the spectacular wing pattern before it headed off. What an amazing bird!

Also seen: Green-winged Teal (2), Broad-winged Hawk (2), peep sp. (7), Pied-billed Grebe (1).

A special thanks as well to Ed Boyd and Joe Hanfman for the helpful information they provided yesterday.
