Maryland Birders -
An interesting hummingbird showed up at the home of Vince deSanctis in Tilghman on Nov 15th and has remained around since then, regularly using a feeder that Vince quickly filled and put out when the bird was first seen. At first the ID was in doubt, but such doubt was erased thanks to a lot of help from Jim Stasz and a colleague who viewed, photographed and studied the bird on the 16th. (see note below).
Vince and his wife Francine have graciously invited interested birders to come on down and take a look for it. The feeder it is using is in the band of shrubbery just to the right of their driveway entrance and is visible from the driveway. Sometimes it also uses bushes at the back of the house. The home is at the entrance of the development called "Tilghman On The Chesapeake" on Rte 33 at the south end of the village of Tilghman. The house number is 21369 Island Club Road, and this is the first blue house on the left as you leave Rte 33 and enter the T-O-C development. Parking is available, though limited, and Vince has requested that people park only on the side of the road closest to his house. (There is room for one car in the entrance to the driveway if that spot is not already taken by one of Vince's cars.) The bird was successfully seen and photographed in early afternoon today - Nov 17, and has been pretty reliable at other times of the day also.
Welcome to Talbot County - the Maryland Hotbed for Calliope Hummers for two years in a row!

Jim Stasz and a colleague spent more than an hour today observing the bird: Conclusion: Calliope Hummingbird. Ebirders note: I have submitted sighting so you are welcome to do likewise.
The bird was first seen at 7:30 am and steadily through the day with the last sighting a few minutes before composing this email. Birders are welcome to stop by and use the driveway. Also for their viewing are irruptive species Purple Finches, Pine Siskins, and Red-breasted Nuthatches. Calliope occasionally goes to the rear of the house as well.
Reminder this is an association and some residents are sensitive to disruptions. Park on our side of the road only.
Vince
