Mike Walsh and I staked out the feeders described in earlier posts on Rumbley Road (officially in Westover, Somerset Co) for about two hours before dark today but had no Common Redpoll during our vigils. Lots of other finches and sparrows, but we weren't the only one staking out the territory -- a Cooper's Hawk has also laid claim to the smorgasbord and the mood was definitely skittish. It was chilly and overcast with a bit of drizzle in the wind, so perhaps a better day would bring the Redpoll back to the feeder.
