MD Birders -
Today, Nov 27th, a noon-time flock of 49 Pine Siskins descended upon my feeders here in Tunis Mills. A few had been around - like one or two - for much of the past week, but somehow this larger flock must have also been in the area. This season my first siskin arrived Oct 9th. The maximum count reached 195 on Oct 22nd, with other birders seeing more than that around that time as the flocks departed from Black Walnut Point on Tilghman Island.
Yesterday, while checking things out near Lake Tuckahoe on the Queen Anne's County side, I came across a flock of nearly 700 Tundra Swan in a young wheat field near the intersection of Rte 481 and Crouse Mill Road. Also, a single Fox Sparrow was present in the playground parking lot of Tuckahoe Park on the Caroline County side of the lake.
Lots of nice birds around, but where are the ducks?
