Subject: [MDBirding] Red and White-winged Crossbills, Crestlawn Cemetary, Howard

At least three Red Crossbills and 12 White-winged Crossbills were at the cemetary 8:00-10:00 AM. The birds were feeding in Norway Spruce. They flew out and returned twice. Both species were photographed. Both species would feed in the same tree, but they tended to segregate when they flew. Both species were heard to call only once; we made no attempt to categorize the Red Crossbills. Other observers present included David Cummings, Karen Darcy, Chuck Stirrat, and later, Jeff Culler. This is the same location where White-winged Crossbills were reported yesterday and earlier this morning.
