I think I'm going to go to this place more often. It also had WW Crossbills in March of 2009. Nice cone-bearing pines and spruces. I heard the chattering of wwXs from the parking lot, looked up, and sure enough saw 3 of them going southeast, crossing Dalton Bevard Rd. and going over the evergreen woods. I got a good look at the red color of one and saw bright wing bars on all 3. This was my 3rd or fourth time there looking for an X--also had other nice birds. If you bird around the road near the lot btw the woods and the house, you can probably be confident about getting a brown creeper, a sapsucker, and a couple of rb nuthatches. Also had a hairy. At least 3 pileated were busy, too. Managed, as well, to scare up a barred owl.
