Subject: [MDBirding] Lapland Longspurs along Lilypons Rd this AM

HI all,

Led our MBC bird trip this morning, unfortunately fairly quiet birdwise due to the fog. However we lucked into a flock of about 60+ Horned Larks along Lilypons Rd, just east of Rt. 85 (north side) which had at least 10 LAPLAND LONGSPURS in it. This was about 10 AM. The Lappies were all in fairly close proximity to each other within the lark flock; some still retained some warm color on the nape. Very nice and a lifer for several on the trip! There may well have been more than 10, as we heard others calling in flight.

I will post more later about the trip, but wanted to get this out in case anyone wanted to go up and look for them.
