I visited this area today in hopes that we'd see the long-earred owls. We came upon the trail twice (with the rocks pointing us to the tree(s) and observed for 10 minutes the first time, then about 20 minutes the second time). The 2nd time we did see two other birders with camera and binos but we didn't see the owls. They hadn't seen them either but also had heard of the recent sightings. However as we hiked further on the Serpentine Trail (white), we did observe a white-winged crossbill up in a tree. We did watch it for about 5 minutes (probably less) until it flew off. So that turned out to be the highlight of the afternoon.
