Subject: [MDBirding] eBird and Christmas Bird Counts

Hi Everyone,

Joe Sebastiani sent out the following note to the Delaware Birding list. I
thought it would also be helpful for MD and DC eBirders.

Happy CBC Season!

Dear Delaware Birders: This is just a little reminder to make more out
of your CBC efforts this year and contribute your sightings to eBird. The
CBC results are stored by the National Audubon Society at the
count-circle-level, and eBird represents a way to store data that you
collect at a smaller level, makes your sightings immediately available to
other Delaware birders, and is another way to avail your sightings to the
scientific and conservation community. For tips on how to approach your
CBC day with regard to ebird data entry, please see the following link:

Also, in the latest issue of the American Birding Association's "Birding"
periodical, there is a great article about eBird in the Tools of the Trade
section on page 58 entitled, "Happy Birthday eBird...Ten Years and
Counting!" by Diana Doyle. Please check it out here:
http://www.aba.org/birding/<https://webmail.salisbury.edu/owa/redir.aspx?C=Ipa9PZy0-ky53JSs_Pi6Ksew57Axrc9IBEMS3RJzOVxTaT6W9NxLpWy60ozypFzkmU9USOICbKg.&URL=http%3a%2f%2fwww.aba.org%2fbirding%2f>when
it becomes available on-line, or take the time to read it in your
current copy.

Here is an excerpt:

"Indeed, eBird may be the enabling tool of the third revolution in
birding. The first revolution was a field binocular, which enabled us to
see the birds farther. The second revolution was a field guide, which
helped us see the birds deeper, to identify details of species, subspecies,
and plumages. Now eBird lets us see birds wider, providing a real-time
portal to which birds are being seen where."

Thank you for contributing your sightings to eBird,

Joe Sebastiani
Delaware eBird Data Editor
