So here's the follow up: I searched the campus thoroughly after school and
did a quicker search at Clifton Park. The latter had a male American
Kestrel, but I could not relocate the crossbills. As I said, they sounded
like Red to me, but I could be mistaken. Many of the trees are heavy-laden
with cones, and so I think it's plausible they will return. I try and get to
school early tomorrow so I have some time to investigate. For those of you
who might be interested, the school is Baltimore City College High School at
the confluence of 33rd st, Loch Raven blvd and the Alameda.
