Subject: [MDBirding] Eastern Neck NWR--No Eurasian Wigeon, but White-winged Crossbills--12/20/2012

Hi Everyone,

This afternoon Dan Small and I scanned the cove described by Bill Hubick in
the note below but were unable to relocate the Eurasian Wigeons. Four
Redheads were present with numerous other ducks, American Coots, and
Double-crested Cormorants. I picked up my Kent Co Horned Grebe here too.

Our highlight came when Dan stepped out of the car on the road to Bogles
Wharf and immediately noticed a flock of crossbills. He had his phone out
right away and probably was able to get a recording. The birds flew down
the road and landed in some of the tall pines. We eventually got some nice
(though brief) looks at these White-winged Crossbills. We counted 16 in
view at the same time.

Have fun,
