Took an unsuccessful spin around Lake Allen late this afternoon looking for Dan Haas' Red Crossbills. I did, however, pick two Black-capped Chickadees out of the flock coming to the visitor center feeders just before the Refuge shut down at 4.
A reminder to anyone who expects (or expected) to bird here tomorrow. The Refuge will be closed the 24th AND 25th -- Feds have a bonus holiday tomorrow so federal facilities will not be open, including Patuxent North.
