I had a nice selection of birds this morning, nearly all seen from the beginning of the fishing pier out to the tip of Black Walnut Point:
2 pairs of Surf Scoters 1 pair of White-winged Scoters 1 pair of Common Goldeneye 11 Long-tailed Ducks 1 Common Loon 2 adult Bald Eagles 2 Cooper's Hawks 1 Kestrel 1 Ruby-crowned Kinglet (the yellowest individual ever) 4 Brown-headed Nuthatches (first time I've found them by myself) 1 Brown Pelican 34 Tundra Swans Many, many Buffleheads, Lesser Scaup and Ruddy Ducks (chased out of Fairbank Cove by a floating blind of hunters) Also lots of Yellow-rumped Warblers, Carolina Chickadees (now known by me as Ca-chicks), White-throated and Song Sparrows, Juncos.....
I should mention that I am a scopeless (hopeless??) soul; thus all my reports are of birds that are easily seen with binoculars only. I know from the CBC that my totals are drastically shy of the actual long-range totals.
