The fee CURRENTLY applies to EVERYONE except picnickers, who must remain in
the designated picnic area ($5/day; $60 season). That doesn't change with
the new fee schedule. Only the fee ($6day; $70 season) changes. I think
many of us are not aware of the CURRENT fee requirement because we haven't
been stopped or asked to show our permit.
Not that I necessarily support the fee (or how hefty it is or what it is
used for). Just want to be sure folks who show up to protest the "new"
fees know they aren't going to be protesting having birdwatchers pay a fee
if they leave the picnic area; that's already required (if poorly enforced)
and we're late to the dance on this one. We would be protesting raising
the daily fee by $1 and the annual fee by $10.
