I was at the inlet at dawn, no sign of Harlies previous reported. Four Great Cormorants put in an appearance.
I got to Assateague about 0835, and walked north to beach access, then south to beyond Pump House 2. No sign of the reported Clay-colored. I was despairing of seeing much of anything aside from Myrtle Warblers, when a jip-jip over head alerted me and 4 Red Crossbills settled into a bare tree and SAT there for several minutes. This was about 10:00 I got a good series of photos of 1 male and 3 females. I went back to get the scope to try to digiscope, by which time only 3 were visible. Then then took off and there were 5 in the group, south bound over the camp ground.
I had crumby looks at the Barrow's Goldeneye, and some good ones at the Tufted Duck on the way home, in the latter case joined by Walter and Nancy.
