Covered the Arboretum in DC for about 3 hrs today, but did not see any crossbills. Highlights included 3 red-breasted nuthatches in the Conifer Collection, who were following and drinking from the holes left by 2 busy Yellow-bellied sapsuckers. Saw 1 hermit thrush by the grove of state trees. And I don't think I've seen such large flocks of juncos in my life; largest flock held probably 80 birds. Otherwise all the expected species.
