What a great day to be outdoors! I walked from Violette's Lock to about a quarter mile past mile marker 23 and back (11:15-12:20) There were snow flurries the entire hour.

On the river:

Bufflehead 5
Lesser Scaup 10
Pied-billed Grebe 2
No. Shoveler 8
Great Blue Heron 1

Hughes Hollow:

When I arrived a Great Blue Heron was gliding in through the snow flakes from the northwest.
I was there from 1:00-2:45. Snow flurries and two snow squalls. My preferred weather!

Swamp Sparrow 3
Winter Wren 2
Brown Creeper 1
Carolina Chickadee 5
Yellow-rumped Warbler 1 ( walking on the ice)
Yellow-bellied Sapsucker (heard in the conifer grove)
Red-bellied Woodpecker 1
Downy Woodpecker 1
No. Cardinal 3
Titmouse 6

Hughes Road Polo Fields
Eastern Bluebird 6 males

Good birding,
