Hey everyone,

Jo Anna and I had a really fun day birding in Worcester County today! We
started out on Assateague Island and while the winds kept passerine
activity low, we had some really nice flights of birds offshore including
over 40 NORTHERN PINTAIL heading north in multiple small groups, flocks of
both BLACK and SURF SCOTERs a single RAZORBILL heading south, and nice
tallies of RED-THROATED and COMMON LOONs. We worked north to Ocean City
inlet and had the surprise of the day in the form of the PACIFIC LOON, it
was hanging very close to the south jetty for the majority of the time we
were there, though for the last hour, the bird drifted mostly south until
it was beyond the breakers, and with the increasing wave height out there I
eventually lost it, I hope it is still in the area, it seemed content while
it was in the inlet and as we were leaving loon numbers were increasing in
the inlet again. Other nice birds in and around the inlet included another
flyby RAZORBILL and the three continuing HARLEQUIN DUCKs.

Some of my PACIFIC LOON pics (with some comparison shots with Common and
Red-throated) can be seen at:

Good Birding!
