Took walk a Great Falls this afternoon, partly on the river trail, partly on the towpath.
There continues to be an eagle sitting on the nest on Conn Island; further up the island there were a dozen or more Great Blue herons setting up nesting at the heronry. On the river, 150+ Ring-necked ducks, 8 male and 6 female Common Mergansers (the males were resplendent with their bright orange bills and dark green heads in the full sunshine), 2 male and 2 female Hooded Mergansers, 2 pair of Wood Ducks, a dozen or more Bufflehead, 2 Pied-billed Grebes,
a couple of Black Ducks, and lots of Mallards.
Along the riverbank a Brown Creeper and a Golden-crown Kinglet.
