I just used it for the first time this morning, and the gps worked too well--I had wanted to select one of my locations, but it put in my address from the gps, and I just let it alone. A few minutes ago, I went to ebird on my computer and edited the location to the one I had wanted. I think it's supposed to let you choose however. Also, it does let you create a list when you have no internet connection; that's in one of the videos I watched. It does seem to assume a gadget with internet connection, but maybe not gps, if you're using a location you've used before, at least. There are a couple dozen utube videos telling about how it works; maybe one of them has more. I'm just learning, myself, but it was fun to use.
