Hey all,
Leslie Starr, Mary Bisson and I went down to Irvine this evening to see the woodcock peeting and flight display. We heard one calling at 629pm, then saw the flight display at 630pm, then a second bird was peeting near the wetlands. Since Keith didn't provide info on where to find the birds. Walk down to the meadow on the left toward the famous Le Conte's Sparrow spot and wait along the path between two new sign posts away from the wetlands. One sign post has a owl pellets on ground and on top of the post.
Before Leslie and Mary arrive, I went down earlier at 4pm to look for any new arrival. Almost an hour later, flushed short-eared owl at the meadow on the right along the narrow path. It flew off with a prey on its talon toward the wetlands.
Before going, make sure to email Rob Mardiney ahead of time at < <Rob...> on when you plan to arrive and/or leaving the place.
