Subject: [MDBirding] Lilypons area Dabblers and Pipits

There were both Green-winged and Blue-winge Teal, Gadwall and Black Ducks at Lilypons yesterday (Friday) and Pipits at Oland Road.

The Teal could be seen by scoping the impoundments from the road. Don't miss the amazing heron rookery on the river while you'e there. I also was treated to two mink, reported earlier with photos by Marcia Balestri, scampering below the road embankment. The best ducks were in the farm ponds behind the woods in back of the water gardens. Walk the farm road through the Lilypons impoundments and keep going but approach carefully as they're very skittish.

The Pipits were in the plowed corn stubble in the field northeast of the Oland Road and MD 85 intersection (the same quadrant as Lilypons). The only way I found them was to follow birds from the sky, then scoping intently the area where I presumed they landed. If one moved I could see it.
