Subject: [MDBirding] Gambel's White-crowned Sparrow-Q.A. Co.
Hi all,

I had a very good candidate for a Gambel's White-crowned Sparrow this afternoon (4:20 to 4:40 PM) at the intersection of Chino Farm Lane and Round Top Rd., just west of Kibler Rd. He was feeding in the short grass at the roadside on the south side of Round Top, but then flew to the field just beyond the wood fence on the north side of the road. This was the only White-crowned present, and he was keeping company with a few Chipping Sparrows and Juncos. I got excellent views with binoculars from 20 ft. away from the car, but he hid in the field before I could get a photo. The bird had a bright orange/pink bill and bright white head stripes that extended to white lores...no dark between the eye and beak. There's enough room to pull your car off on the short grass along the south side of Round Top Rd.

Have fun
