Subject: [MDBirding] Kenilworth Park & Aquatic Gardens - Grasshopper Sparrow and multiple FOY's
Another great morning birding at Kenilworth Park and Aquatic Gardens. 73 species found with the best bird being a GRASSHOPPER SPARROW seen in the abandoned part of Kenilworth Park right at the abandoned restroom (this is the woodcock spot back towards the power plant). I also ended up with 6 shorebird species (Killdeer, Snipe, FOY both Yellowlegs, FOY Spotted Sand, and FOY Least Sand). The Yellowlegs were in a wet spot on the soccer fields and the Least was on the mud in the pond grids at KAG.

Of note, the Least Sandpiper is my 200th DC species, all of which I've seen by foot, bike, or metro/bus over the last year and a half!

Other good birds this morning included:

Common Loon - 2 (flyovers)
Bonaparte's Gull - 14 (flyovers in one group, FOY)
Caspian Tern - 3 (flying along the Anacostia, FOY)
Red-headed Woodpecker - calling from across the river, technically National Arboretum, FOY
White-eyed Vireo - FOY in the shrubby edge of the fields at Kenilworth Park
Purple Martin - FOY flyover calling
(Yellow) Palm Warbler - 8
Savannah Sparrow - 35 (the most common bird in the fields; couldn't find a Vesper)
Rusty Blackbird - 4
Purple Finch - 1 singing by the KAG parking lot
