Subject: [MDBirding] Conowingo Wildflowers
Virginia bluebell fans: they are at peak display on the wildflower walk below the dam. There are also extensive patches of Dutchman's breeches, and the trillium are coming into bloom. There are many other types of flowers as well. Herons were coming and going from their nests on the Cecil side. There were numerous singing Song Sparrows, a group of Yellow-rumped Warblers (one a male in beautiful breeding plumage) and an unseen singer that I think was an American Redstart. A Phoebe was also heard. We also saw several egg masses in the vernal pools but only one tadpole so far. Thank you to everyone who came to the field trip today.
