Subject: [MDBirding] Truitt's Landing - Nelson's & Saltmarsh Sparrow
As part of a larger weekend trip to find a few remaining potential "lifers" in the region (including a successful run to the Great Dismal Swamp for Swainson's Warbler), I spent pre-dawn and early morning at Truitt's Landing in Worcester County.

I ended up having great luck in seeing both (previously) Sharp-tailed Sparrows. A Nelson's was "singing" on and off most of the time I was there near the beginning of the marsh and I got a quick look at it early in bad light (looked pretty orange, suggesting the interior sub-species, but it was still too dark to call it). I didn't hear any Saltmarsh Sparrows singing, and since it was the needed lifer species, I walked into the marsh (rubber boots required) and ended up seeing at least two wide in the open.

I didn't see the White-faced Ibis report from Saturday until I got home today, so I didn't even look closely through the 40 or so Glossies I saw (most distant).

Other highlights:
Clapper Rails - at least 5, mostly calling in pre-dawn dark
Chuck-wills-widow - 1 calling in pre-dawn dark
Shorebird diversity - both Dowitchers, Dunlin, both Yellowlegs, Least and Semi Sand, Semi Plover, and Turnstone
