Despite being in the woods without cellphone service when seabirds/shorebirds were falling out of the sky, I had a great day in Garrett and Allegany Counties. Though the deciduous trees in Garrett were still mostly bare, the breeders were out in full force. Highlights from both counties:

1 Golden-winged Warbler (county/location undisclosed per group guidelines)
5 Henslow's Sparrows (county/location undisclosed per group guidelines)

Swallow Falls State Park:

9 Blackburnian Warblers (2 parking lot, 1 park office, 4 on road up to campsite, 2 more on entrance road as I was leaving)
7 Black-throated Green Warblers
3 Magnolia Warblers
6 Blue-headed Vireos
3 Least Flycatchers
2 Rose-breasted Grosbeaks
3 Scarlet Tanagers
1 Winter Wren

Maple Glade Road:

2 Blackburnian Warblers
2 Chestnut-sided Warblers
2 Black-throated Blue Warblers
10 Black-throated Green Warblers
2 Hooded Warblers
1 Western Palm Warbler (late)
2 American Redstarts
7 Blue-headed Vireos
1 Least Flycatcher
1 Scarlet Tanager
1 Winter Wren

The Dip (lowest point between Swallow Falls & Herrington Manor State Parks):

2 Magnolia Warblers
1 American Redstart

Herrington Manor State Park:

4 Blackburnian Warblers (3 of which were at eye level or below)
1 Black-throated Blue Warbler
1 Chestnut-sided Warbler
2 American Redstarts
4 Black-throated Green Warblers
2 American Redstarts
3 Black-throated Green Warblers
1 Rose-breasted Grosbeak
2 Spotted Sandpipers
1 Bald Eagle
1 Osprey

Russell Road:

2 American Redstarts
1 Magnolia Warbler
1 Western Palm Warbler
2 Black-throated Green Warblers
3 Bobolinks
2 Eastern Meadowlarks
1 Grasshopper Sparrow

Lower New Germany Road:

4 Wild Turkeys

Piney Reservoir (returned to look for vagrants, no luck):

2 Common Loons
5 Ruddy Ducks
1 Ruffed Grouse (flew in front of the road, the first one I've ever seen)
1 Black-throated Green Warbler
1 Bobolink (farm on the way in)

Finzel Swamp:

1 Black-throated Green Warbler
2 Wood Ducks
(No Willow/Alder Fly, no Purple Finch)
