Subject: [MDBirding] Glover Archibold Park DC - 17 Warbler spp.
I birded Glover-Archibold Park in NW DC this morning in hopes of finding a Kentucky Warbler (the park has a ton of understory veg, including streamside thicket areas) but I wasn't successful. The consolation was 17 other spp. of warblers, including BAY-BREASTED, CAPE MAY, CHESTNUT-SIDED, MAGNOLIA, CANADA, WORM-EATING, BLACKBURNIAN, NORTHERN WATERTHRUSH, and others. There were also still a couple dozen WHITE-THROATED SPARROWS present and several on-territory ACADIAN FLYCATCHERS.

This park is arguably the nicest sounding one in DC with plenty of breeding WOOD THRUSES and VEERIES back on territories singing. I also think it will still be worth checking for the thicket-skulking warblers (e.g. Kentucky and Mourning) over the next couple weeks. The best area is the long stretch between Reservoir Rd. on the south and New Mexico Ave. on the north.
