Darius,

I know how you feel. We have had a sharpie hanging around here in the
winter for the past several years. I have seen it take my feeder birds,
usually doves but sometimes a junco, goldfinch or one of my downies. It's
hard to watch and I read in horror your account of the sharpie with not one
but two (!) of those lovely downies. It was a relief to read your follow-up
note.

Now that all of the winter feeders are up, I guess my accipiter friend will
be here soon.

Hope you found the loon.

Arlene
