The odd goose reported in Virginia is probably a hybrid of Canada Goose X Greylag Goose. The Canada provides most of the body plumage while the Greylag brings in the bill and leg color plus the thick neck. The head color is usually a mess. I have seen them in the past at Piney Run Park. They have always appeared in fall/winter with large flocks of Canadas. Bob Ringler
