My experience is that hair in bags and similar deterrents to deer simply do
not work very well.  What DOES work is ROPEL, a product that is sprayed on
foliage and simply reeks. It will make a human retch if you get a good snort
of it.  The downside is that it needs to be reapplied after a heavy rain.

Now whether this could effectively be sprayed on the leaves of hummingbird
attracting plants, staying away from the blossums, remains to be tested.

Perhaps someone ought to try it this summer.

I have plenty of deer here, but because I am in the woods, not enough light
for hummer attracting flowers.
