Gary Griffith's and other posts on this topic reminded me of a suggestion I
heard from a caller at work (I'm at the Audubon Naturalist Society part-time).

She recommended putting a bar of Ivory soap in a stocking (old knee-highs
were good) and tacking them to trees that are favored by deer. Said she
does this November through March. I didn't ask about the range this might
affect, but she did say she puts them everywhere, about every 4-5 ft! (if I
recall correctly).

BTW, I really appreciated the many suggestions for hummer-attractive
plants that are not attractive to deer. I can sure use this info when
callers to ANS ask me! (And they surely will!)
