I had a King Rail at Courthouse Point in Cecil County on
Sunday, February 8. At the same location, I heard one or
possibly two Short-eared Owls repeatedly calling, late in
the afternoon, but I could not see it/them. Here's
run-down of my other sightings in Cecil:
At Bethel WMA:
Tundra Swan - 6
Canada Goose - 2
Ruddy Duck - 9
Mallard - 14
American Black Duck - 2
American Coot - about 200
Great Blue Heron - 1
plus juncos, white-throats, cardinals, blue jay,
mockingbird, grackles, starlings
At Courthouse Point:
Northern Pintail - about 150
American Wigeon - 6
Mallard - about 70
Red-tailed Hawk - 1
American Tree Sparrow - 5
plus juncos, white-throats, cardinals, blue jay,
mockingbird, grackles, starlings
At Stemmer's Run:
Common Merganser - about 300
Bald eagle - 2
