Do you have a copy of the MD Yellow Book? If not, I recommend you get
one. Eared Grebe is a rare bird in St. Mary's County with no accepted
records published as of the last revision of the yellow book! Last
winter, Patty Craig found one just slightly upriver from where this bird
was seen. My wife and I found another one on the Patuxent River at
Greenwell State Park while searching for the Tufted Duck in St. Mary's
County waters.
