Fred,

You really need to pick up a copy of Claudia Wilds' book, Finding
Birds in the National Capital Area. If you do go look for it, be
sure you get the Revised Edition.

She has a writeup of the areas around Blackwater that may be
productive--namely Maple Dam Road, Shorter's Wharf Road, Andrews
Road, and MD Rt 335 down to Hooper Island.

Another nearby area is Elliott Island (via Elliott Island Road, off
Rt. 50 at Vienna). As far as restaurants and motels go, my knowledge
seems to be limited mostly to Ocean City or Dover...let us know what
you find!

In all seriousness, though, get Claudia's book---you need it as a
starting point to do any serious birding around the Eastern Shore.

I know I didn't give you much detail, but with a good county map and
the road names you should be able to map out a day's worth of
birding!

Let me know if you have other questions!
