Kathy,

Since you included my e-mail in your post, I assume you are responding to
something I said. Please allow me the opportunity to clarify.

I certainly did not mean to cast aspersions on the integrity of others or the
Records Committee and I don't feel I did in any of my posts. My initial
question was what was the connection between birders discussing the ID of a
bird and the workings of the Records Committee. Harvey's message posted by
Phil gave me the opinion that there is no connection, especially since Harvey
stated at this point the Records Committee has no involvement since they have
not received a submission for the Common Gull.

In all of my e-mails I spoke purely and clearly about my decision as to what I
was going to do with MY sighting of the bird in question. I made my decision
on January 2, which is the day I saw the bird, which is also long before I
ever heard any public discussion as to the possibility of the bird not being a
Common Gull. It is, therefore, of absolutely no concern to me what decision
anyone else reaches, or for that matter, what decision the Records Committee
reaches. I have made a decision for myself and no one else.

If anyone else feels I was casting aspersions on the integrity of others or
the Records Committee, I do apologize.
