I have been taken to ask by Phil Davis for my message last night. He feels that my bringing in the Records Committee was incorrect. I went back and looked at my message and here is what I said regarding the Records Committee: > Is Bruce Peterjohn's personal attack on Mark Hoffman typical of the > way that such submissions are handled by the MD/DC Records > Committee? If so, I can see why you may have trouble getting people > to submit their thoughts to you. This was phrased as a question and meant as a question, but I think it is a question being asked by a lot of people. > I've never submitted any notes to the records committee...after > hearing how they're received, how responses to opinions become > personal vendettas, I probably never will. Having never submitted material to the records committee, I have no personal knowledge of how such a submission would be received. I admit this and I apologize for any implication that the nasty debate we're seeing here on MD Osprey is indicative of the way the Committee works. I also understand, now, that the individuals involved in this debate are not CURRENTLY members of the records committee. In part I am expressing a long build-up of frustration at NOT knowing how the committee works. I know that the Secretary and the current Chair have worked hard to be open about the operation of the Records Committee and to publicize the work being done there, but the fact remains that many people are unsure of how the Committee operates. In any event, my apologies to the current members of the MD/DC Records Committee if I have mis-stated the vein in which reports to the committee are received.
