We visited Sycamore Landing (C&O Canal) Sunday afternoon. Red
Shouldered Hawks were calling on both sides of the river. Finally, an
adult soared overhead and was joined by 2 immatures. There was a
Tundra Swan and 4 Pintails on the river. We enjoyed several Yellow-B
     Sapsuckers and numerous Brown Creepers.

Late afternoon I visited Black Hill Park and waded through a stream
(Ten Mile Creek?) to an isolated finger of the lake. It was a
delightful walk with the sun setting. Got nice close looks at 10
Hooded Mergansers, 11 Red-B Mergansers, Ring-Necked Ducks, American
Wigeons, Black Ducks, Ruddy Ducks, Buffleheads and one Goldeneye. An
adult Bald Eagle dove at the ducks and landed on a tree nearby.

I briefly scanned the main section of the Lake after sunset --
Additional Red-B Mergansers and Buffleheads; and a pair of Hooded
     Mergansers.

     Happy Birding, Dan Eberly
