I use 'cheers' and am most certainly a 'local folk' born in DC, raised
in Northern VA. I use it just because it is a cheerful sign-off.

     Cheers,

Here in Montgomery County, MD we saw an Osprey this past Thursday at
Hughes Hollow. I don't know if it was the first one of the season or not
(it was for me).

P.S. If someone ends their message with "Cheers" is it safe to assume that
that person is from some other english speaking place besides the United
States? Or, do "local folk" also use such language? (Sorry for the
non-bird talk.)

How's it coming in southern MD ? Which counties have Osprey already ?
