Hello there,

Phil Davis just called me (about 9:40 am. Friday, March 13).

He and Paul O'Brien were down at the Yellow-billed Loon site at St. Mary's
County. They saw no Yellow-billed Loon, potential or otherwise, but seven
Common Loons were present.

He said Patty Craig will be back later this afternoon.

Two previous messages about this bird are appended, with directions.
Originators of these are Jim Stasz and Jane Kostenko, respectively.

Best,

Rob Hilton

> Tyler and I just talked with Patty Craig about her possible
YELLOW-BILLED LOON on St. George's Island (Delorme 23) off the pier of
Evan's Seafood Restaurant. She saw it at 3:15 today (Thursday) and watched
it for half an hour; she took photos, but the bird had its back to her by
then, and was swimming to the left (north-ish), toward Harry Lundberg
School of Seamanship complex.
> Her description is: a loon with a large, pale bill, and a dark ear spot,
with a brown line down the nape. The bird was starting to molt into
breeding plumage on the scapulars, but was mostly in winter plumage.
> If you come down, dress warmly--we had 16 degrees on our thermometer
this morning, and tomorrow is supposed to start out colder than today!
