Hi Folks! I do not recall hearing Saltmarsh Sharp-tailed Sparrows singing at night....but then again, the song does not travel well. Perhaps they are drowned out by the rails, Seaside Sparrows, Marsh Wrens, quack ducks....and 1,000,000,000 mosquitoes. I had my first migrant Nelson's Sharp-tailed Sparrow this afternoon at the Chesapeake Beach ballfield ponds/marsh...in the phragmotes along the west dike. It looked like a James Bay (alterus, not a nelsoni). Good Birding! Jim Jim Stasz North Beach MD jlstasz@aol.com
